These are the best video games of 2022

Yet another year of gaming in the books.

As the industry continues to evolve post-pandemic, more games continue to release each year that catch my attention.

Of course, most of my time are spent with either annual sports releases such as EA’s NHL series or Sony’s MLB The Show. I also spend a lot of time playing Rockstar’s two open-world franchises Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto. However, there were a few games that I branched out to this year.

Here they are.

High On Life

The newest creation from Rick and Morty’s Justin Roiland is here. It’s just him doing his usual thing, voicing some of the characters too. It’s funny and never takes itself too seriously.

Gran Turismo 7

I grew up playing Gran Turismo 3 and have played every game in the series ever since. When I switched from PlayStation to Xbox, I was delighted to find out that my old PlayStation 4 could play.

After Gran Turismo Sport failed to realize its expectations, GT7 isn’t the best in the franchise either (the correct answer is GT5). However, it does everything right except for rally racing and its needless requirement to always have online connectivity to play the mostly-offline career mode.

The highly-requested follow-up to Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort doesn’t have quite the pomp that its predecessors had. Those games always had the family…
